Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) are major public health concerns in Nigeria, affecting thousands of patients who require either dialysis or kidney transplantation. However, access to kidney transplant services remains limited due to a shortage of transplant centers, organ donors, and specialized medical personnel. Many patients are forced to rely on dialysis, which is costly, time-consuming, and less effective in the long term compared to transplantation.
The Kidney Transplant Center project aims to establish a well-equipped facility dedicated to providing high-quality kidney transplant services. This center will integrate state-of-the-art surgical technology, organ donor programs, pre- and post-transplant care, and research initiatives to improve transplant success rates. The center will also enhance organ donation awareness and ensure ethical and transparent management of transplant services in Nigeria.
The project will establish a state-of-the-art transplant center to meet the rising demand for kidney transplants. It will reduce dialysis dependency by providing access to both living and deceased donor transplants.
The project will improve survival rates and quality of life for kidney failure patients while reducing dialysis costs. It will also curb medical tourism by providing affordable transplant services within Nigeria.
The project will train and employ transplant specialists while fostering partnerships for research and education. It will also enhance Nigeria’s capacity for organ transplantation and advanced surgical procedures.
The project will raise awareness about organ donation, ensuring a larger pool of registered donors. It will also establish transparent allocation systems and uphold ethical transplant practices aligned with international standards.
